Hi guys (including ladies),

I am still out here waiting for an offering for the Para 14-45.  I hope it is still a product of interest to C/T, Para, and Para Hi Cap. owners (especially seniors such as myself whose eyesight need the treasured "red dot").

Thanks,
Paul

This thread is now over 3 1/2 years old.  According to the posts in the thread the Para p14.45 is one of the most frequently requested grip designs for crimson trace to build.  So I want to know if I should plan on seeing this product in my life time or should I budget for one of these in my estate for my grand children to buy.

I have four of these for you to consider.  I have 2 P14.45s, 1 - P12.45, 1 - P13.45, and a P10.45.  Right now guide rod lasers are beginning to look more realistic.  I have been waiting, but like a few others here my eyesight is not getting any better.

Dear Hawkflyer,

I respectfully suggest you move slowly on the guide rod solution for the Para P14-45.

As you noted this thread is 3+ years old, and during that time I sought alternative solutions including the guide rod application.  Two of them broke while shooting (reasonably few rounds), and there were accompanying problems with the gudie rod laser's switching/slide stop.

Crimson Trace is the answer if they can ever justify production.  Failing that there is a new offering coming forth that will project the laser from the rear sight.  Whereas this design also has no moving parts it should prove to be a viable alternative.

Best wishes, PSDowning

I agree with PSDowning. The guide rod solution is not so great. The activation button is terrible, and ther is no momentary on option - it's either on or off. I've had problems with it switching itself on under recoil, after only 2-3 shots fired. Not good. The slide stop had to be modified to fit in my gun. Also there are a LOT of cheap plastic parts in this system, and I don't like the idea of having plastic parts my guns internals. I's a pulsating laser wich may be easier for the eye to catch, but renders the laser useless for dry practice of triggerpull etc. That said, the company making the guide rod laser has excellent customer service and make some other great products, but for me the 1911 laser was a step in the wrong direction. I ended up throwing it out after 1 trip to the range, waiting for CTC to make a decent laser, althoug my hopes are dropping...

Well said I.R.Roren!  I too had to modify the slide stop of the recoil spring guide rod laser, but forgot to mention it in my earlier posting.  Your description of the "switching problems" encountered is also identical to those which I experienced.

We are out here Crimson Trace-how about it?  The supposed problem of a too thick grip (to house batteries) is of no consequence.  Please-make grips for the Para HiCap 14-45!

For those interested, I have posted some pertinent questions about this topic over on this thread:

http://forums.crimsontrace.com/index.php?topic=34795.0

I am wondering why CT can't come up with a single grip that is side actuated like the LG 201 used to be?

Inasmuch as grip size continues to be an issue for C/T with respect to development of a product for the ParaOrdinance double stack 14-45, I am wondering if a solution may not already be “in-house”.
What is the possibility of modifying the design utilized for the 406, 434, 436, offerings?  Would this not eliminate the concern of a too large grip?
Or, along a similar line of thought, how about a modification of the design used for the 426?  Would not this similarly bypass the supposed hurdle of too large a grip (I say “supposed” because I favor a large grip – have Hogues on my 14-45)?
Thank you for keeping the development of a C/T design for the Para 14-45 in mind.

I spoke with a gentleman at C/T today, and was encouraged that the Para 14-45 Hi-Cap is, once again, an item of interest for future production.  I sincerely hope that it will be offered in an "over mold, soft, and tacky material, as opposed to a hard slippery plastic.  Be that as it may I will gratefully purchase C/T grips for my 14-45 regardless of their composition.  Keep the faith shooters - come on C/T we are still waiting. I'm glad to see that this thread is still running. I allways hope to get som good news when I check it. I still have hopes for double stack grips. According to the thread below, they have been working on a solution since 2002 or earlier:

http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124005

I recall seeing Todd Jarret shooting a Para double stack with lasergrips a while ago, but it was some kind of modified CT "frankengrips" hommade stuff:

I'll check back later..

I.R. Roren - Thanks for "sticking" with those of us who are tenacious in our desire to get C/T's for our Para 14-45 double stacks.

I am having yet another ParaOrdinance PX14-45 customized for me and, therefore, hope that C/T is still open to the production of grips for this weapon.  Whereas all of my Para's have been completely gutted and customized from tip to tail, they are only lacking the finishing touches that C/T grips would provide.  Once again, please build grips for the Para double stack .45 utilizing a soft, tacky, compound. Thanks, P.S. Downing
