i just ordered my first CT for my S&W Model 10 w/ a square butt and 4" barrel (LG-307). i was saddened to see that my Model 36 has a square butt too, and all CT has available for J frames are for round butts. i did place a request on the "want page", but i am curious---i was under the impression that most older 36's were square, not round. anybody know the history for sure? i would love to have a CT on my 1 7/8" snubby.

I'm not a S&W historian, but I do know that in the mid 80s, they stopped producing square butt revolvers.
There are a great number of square butt J-frames still in service and we consistently review the feasibility of developing a Lasergrip for the S&W square butt products.

To date, projects with greater demand/urgency have trumped this particular project but please, do not give up hope....never say never.  - Nate

well, i got and installed my Model LG-307 today which is great---but i sure hope you consider making the square butt .38 snubby---it's way too popular to ignore, and would just fit in perfect with the snubnose aesthetic of being an extension of your hand.
